Need to sell more than what's in your attic? How about selling your whole house!

Stuart Brody, president of Showcase Antique Center, Inc., and now a licensed real estate agent and auctioneer in Massachusetts and Connecticut, would like to introduce you to Brody Auction Associates, LLC and discuss his affiliation with Northeast Realty.

Introducing...
Brody Auction Associates, LLC

That's right! Stuart Brody is at it again. And this time he's added real estate auctioneer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts to his extensive and impressive list of credentials with the opening of his new firm, Brody Auction Associates, LLC.

Real estate auctioneering is an aggressive, advance marketing strategy that provides tremendous benefits to the seller. "Most people think it has to do with distressed properties," said Stuart. "That is only one portion of the market. More and more people are turning to real estate auctions to sell their homes or commercial properties."

Auction is ideal for inherited property, or when time is of the essence, such as in divorce settlements. Contents may be included in the auction as well.

Auction is a true market forum. "It brings interested buyers to a point of decision - act now, or lose the opportunity to purchase," added Stuart.

And the benefits are numerous!

  • Auction reduces the time the property is on the market.
  • Auction eliminates numerous, unscheduled showings.
  • Auction creates competition among buyers - auction prices can exceed the price of a negotiated sale.
  • Auction takes the seller out of the negotiation process.
  • Seller sets the terms and conditions of the sale.
  • Seller knows exactly when the property will sell.
  • The buyer pays the commission when a 7% to 10% buyer's premium is used. The high bid plus the buyer's premium becomes the total selling price.
  • The seller pays no commission when a property is sold...only marketing costs are charged.

Affiliation...
Northeast Realty

To provide more options for his clients, Stuart affiliated with Northeast Realty, Union, CT, as both a real estate agent and auctioneer. Now Stuart can conduct negotiated sales for both residential and commercial properties in Massachusetts and Connecticut, as well as auction property in Connecticut.

Royal Bayreuth China

Royal Bayreuth has been the leader in the production of porcelain for over 200 years. The factory in Tettau, Germany is the oldest Bavarian china producer under private ownership, and still considered one of Germany's finest producers of quality porcelain. Although delicate to the touch, its durability makes it last for hundreds of years.

Founded in 1794, Royal Bayreuth has survived several difficult historic events, including the Napoleonic-Franco Prussian turmoil, two World Wars, as well as numerous changes in management and ownership. A fire in 1897 destroyed a number of important records and molds.

Dinnerware, dining accessories, coffee, and tea sets have been the company's main product line through the years. Collector items produced include figurals, scenic pieces, rose tapestry and many unique novelties such as Sunbonnet Babies, a limited edition collectible.

An Old Tettau Blue, one of the oldest Royal Bayreuth patterns, used for dinnerware and related ceramics, is still produced. Older pieces carry the hallmark "T" used from 1794 to 1885, or the lion mark (1887-1902).

Stuart's Musings

Samplers

The term sampler comes from the Latin exemplum meaning 'an example to be followed, a pattern, a model or example'. Although the earliest dated samplers come from the 16th century, it is possible they were stitched long before this time.

The first, known dated English sampler was made by Jane Bostocke in 1598 to celebrate the birth of Alice Lee. The sampler portrays random motifs in a variety of stitches and shades, and includes metal threads, pearls and beads.

Early samplers were sewn by women, rather than young girls, and were intended as examples of designs and different stitches. Later in the 17th century the style changed to spot samplers, random motifs worked in silk, intended to be cut out and appliqued onto bed hangings or other furnishings. During this period printed pattern books became available, so samplers lost some of their use as works of reference.

From the mid-eighteenth century, it was common for young girls to work samplers as part of their education. These samplers began to take on the form best known, with decorative borders, alphabets, motifs such as animals, flowers and houses, and usually contained a verse.

During Victorian times, samplers were more pictorial, decorative articles to be hung on parlor walls. As the designs became more elaborate, the number of different stitches used was reduced, ending up with the cross-stitch samplers so well known today.
